(updated Feb. 10, 2023) I AM accepting new clients with March 2023 start dates.
I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC #1327), obtained a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute and also hold B.A. and B.Ed. degrees from the University of Western Ontario.
Counselling is provided for individuals (18 years +). I am not taking on couples or families. Learn about my approach here.
Appointments are available Monday – Thursday, 9am – 2:30 pm (latest start time). Sessions are 50 minutes. $120.
Office location: 442 Wisteria St., Parksville. Side door entrance is the office. Use the driveway to park if you wish.
A complimentary 15-minute phone or in-person consultation is available. Call (250-586-7380) or email to arrange a convenient time for you.
EMDR (eye movement desensitization & reprocessing)
I also offer EMDR [click for more info & video links] when appropriate to help clients let go of disturbing or even niggling emotional events/memories which are loaded with negative beliefs (e.g., “I am worthless,” “I don’t matter,” etc.). When past “baggage” is fully processed and cleared, then there is less to taint one’s self-esteem and to hinder positive movement towards goals. I’ve witnessed some lovely transformations! EMDR is an effective & efficient psychotherapy and can be applied to these therapeutic targets:
- negative beliefs (e.g., “I’m not good enough.” “It’s my fault.”)
- what keeps bothering you? {intrusive, persistent memories}
- certain situations (e.g., holidays, flying, social outings)
- perpetrators (e.g., Uncle Bob, swim coach)
- certain event/age (e.g., age 10 (divorce, moved, sad)
- anxiety, anger, addiction, grief
Fees
Rates as of January 1, 2023
In order to better align with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors 2022 recommended fee schedule of $135 – 150 per 50 minute session for individuals; fees will be set at: $120 (incl GST).
Payment is cash, cheque or e-transfer (due the day of service, using hancoxdiane@gmail.com as the recipient).
Clients will be charged for late cancellations (less than 24 hr notice, unless weather or emergency related) and for ‘no shows.’ This is done to respect everyone’s time and needs, as a waiting list often exists.
