As seasons (and the corresponding Elements) cycle, different organs (and their associated activities, attitudes, emotions, energies, etc.) are called up for action during this peak time. Just as we are advised to get our car winterized, start taking supplements for the cold/flu season, or start getting ‘back in shape’ for spring activities, we can aid specific meridians for their transition into the upcoming season. Acupressure can help balance the body’s energy, or Qi, which can be disrupted by the changing seasons. The session involves treating both the Yin and Yang meridians on both sides of the body using potent points.
We choose to do a seasonal tune-up:
i. based on the season you are in or are entering e.g., summer into fall
ii. anytime you experience a disruption to your mind-body due to a significant event (e.g., sudden job loss, bad news), a CF Element tune-up will aid in settling your core CF equilibrium
iii. when someone is stuck in a defensive attitude specific to an Element. E.g. A Wood (Spring) CF might be grieving yet set on not showing any tears as they believe it is a sign of weakness, was not brought up that way or perhaps, “I just don’t cry.” Thus, they would benefit from a Metal (Winter) tune-up/boost.
Seasonal treatments can:
Boost Immunity: Preparing the body to resist seasonal illnesses that tend to cycle/appear at certain times of the year.
Manage Allergies and Respiratory Issues: Particularly during spring and autumn.
Support Emotional Balance: Addressing mood shifts that correspond with seasonal changes.
Enhance Energy Levels: Helping to counteract the fatigue that can accompany seasonal transitions.
Here are some quick examples for each season:
Spring/Wood : Focuses on clearing liver Qi stagnation, aiding detoxification, and managing allergies.
Summer/Fire : Aims to calm the heart, reduce heat, and improve circulation.
Late Summer/Earth: Helps with digestion, fortifying the spleen and stomach.
Autumn/Metal: Supports lung function, fortifies the immune system, and addresses grief or sadness.
Winter/Water : Strengthens kidney energy, fosters deep rest, and prepares the body for renewal in spring.
